Taliban Foreign Ministry Welcomes Biden’s Remarks About Absence Of Al-Qaeda In Afghanistan

The ministry said that Joe Biden's statements “arise from understanding the truth" and contradict the recent report of the United Nations Security Council regarding the presence of terror groups in Afghanistan.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson of the Taliban's foreign ministry, said on Twitter on Saturday that the group does not allow the use of Afghan soil against other countries and added that the Taliban’s approach against terror groups is not with "the help and orders of anyone, including the United States".

On Friday, the US president during a press conference said that Al-Qaeda is no longer present in Afghanistan and added that earlier he had said “he would get help from the Taliban” to destroy the terror group.

This is even though the UN Security Council recently reported that the relationship between the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan and the Al-Qaeda network and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) remains strong.
According to the Security Council report, the risk of terrorism in Afghanistan and the region has been on the rise.

The UN report stated that under the Taliban’s reign, terrorist groups have more freedom of manoeuvre. The report added that the threat of terrorism is increasing both in Afghanistan and in the region.

Central Asian countries have also repeatedly expressed concern about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
