Hossein Amirabdollahian, the Iranian foreign minister, during a phone call with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Taliban’s foreign minister, on Friday, asked the Taliban government to respect their water rights as it would strengthen the partnership and friendship between the two countries.
Iranian foreign ministry said that Muttaqi welcomed the continuation of bilateral consultations between the two countries and the arrival of a delegation of experts from the Iranian ministry of energy to follow up on the water rights. Taliban and Iranian government have been discussing how to resolve water issues and border tensions through delegation-level talks earlier.
Both sides also discussed confronting organized crimes, human and drug trafficking and counter-terrorism issues, as per the statement.
