While condemning Saturday's attack on the Afghan Sikh Gurudwara in Kabul, Thomas West, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan, said that vulnerable minorities must be protected. In a tweet, he also expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
Several countries and human rights organizations have too condemned the attack on Afghan Sikhs and the Indian government prioritized issuance of more than hundred visas for Afghan Sikhs and Hindus. Indian officials even added that more than 150 Hindu and Sikhs are living in Afghanistan who are under serious threat.
This comes even as the Taliban had said that one Sikh had been killed and seven others had been injured in Saturday's attack, responsibility for which was claimed by the Islamic State-Khosran branch (IS-K).
