The US Vice-President Kamala Harris announced that she is saddened by the one-year anniversary of the ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan.

Harris added that the US will not stop championing the rights of women and girls around the world.

At the same time, Rina Amiri, the US special envoy for Afghan girls, women, and human rights said that it has been one year since the dreams of Afghan girls were trashed, and they were tearfully turned away from secondary and higher education in Afghanistan.

It has been over 550 days since the Taliban barred Afghan girls from secondary and higher education in Afghanistan. In 2022, the Taliban also banned Afghan girls from attending university education across the country.
