Taliban’s Mining Minister Visits Iran For International Conference

Hedayatullah Badri, the Taliban’s Minister of Mines and Petroleum, travelled to Iran on Monday, 19 May, leading a delegation to attend an international conference of mineral experts and researchers.
According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Mines, Badri is scheduled to hold meetings with representatives of various Iranian companies and investors. “These discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation, Afghanistan’s mineral potential and available investment opportunities in the mining sector,” the ministry said.
Concurrently, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, is also in Tehran. On Sunday, he met with Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian. Muttaqi is due to depart for Beijing on Tuesday, 20 May, to participate in the sixth trilateral meeting between Pakistan, China and the Taliban.
