PTI Leader Khan Facilitated Return Of Militants From Afghanistan, Says Pakistan PM

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accused former Prime Minister Imran Khan of facilitating the return and resettlement of militants from Afghanistan in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during his time in office.
Sharif said the decision had led to a resurgence of terrorist activities in Pakistan, causing significant security and economic losses.
Speaking at a gathering on Saturday, 31 October, Sharif said the decision to bring militants back from Afghanistan had been made during Imran Khan's administration.
He also accused the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of disregarding the consequences of the decision.
The Pakistani prime minister provided no evidence to support his allegations about the transfer and resettlement of militants in Swat. PTI and Imran Khan's supporters have previously rejected similar accusations.
Sharif also defended his government's decision to impose governor's rule and a state of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The issue of militants returning from Afghanistan to Pakistan also emerged in 2022.
At the time, reports indicated that several members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had returned to different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat, following peace talks between the group and the Pakistani government.
